Hayle Standard Distance Triathlon
South West Series
The Hayle Standard Distance Triathlon is based at Hayle in Cornwall. Although this is classed as an Open Water event, the swim section is located within the sheltered Copperhouse Pool. This salt water pool is "locked in" at high tide especially for the event and is is therefore non tidal, allowing the competitors to experience a mass swim start within a very safe environment. In 2006, The Hayle Standard Distance Triathlon was the only event in Cornwall to receive BTA South West Series status for both Junior and Senior levels.
Race Distances:
Swim: A
1500 metre open water swim set in the Copperhouse (salt water) Pool.This is a mass water start, but non tidal and without surf. Safety boat cover is provided as standard.
Bike: The bike is an
40km circular course which is suited to intermediate riders, with the
possibility of a sub one hour time.Tri specific bikes would be suitable with frequent use of the aerobars.
Run:
The 10km run takes place on an out and back course, with a slight climb to the
turn point and drink station.From there, its back down to the finish which is on a flat section next to the transition area.
