Hayle Middle Distance Triathlon

SW Middle Distance Championship Race

The Hayle Middle Distance Triathlon is based at Marazion in Cornwall. It is a demanding yet ideal introduction to Middle Distance events. This is normally the first major event in Cornwall and kick starts the triathlon season. Click here to view images from this event in 2006.

Race Distances:

Swim: A 1900(that became 2.1k as a bouy wandered off a bit) metre open water sea swim set in front of the beautiful St Michaels Mount.  Sometimes its flat and sometimes its not so flat! However, the swim is adjusted to suit the weather conditions on the day. Surf safety cover is also provided.

Bike: The bike is an 85km two lapped, undulating course and very fast in places with a few hills thrown in for those who love them.

Tri specific bikes would be suitable with frequent use of the aerobars.

Run: The run is a 21km three lapped coastal path course, predominately on gravel and tarmac. There are regular drinks stations along the route.

It is flat, can be windy and if you are lucky you may get cooled off by the sea spray!

We are looking at relocating a bit closer to Marazion to make use of a more secure and safe transition.  This might involve a few alterations, especially the run

Camping available from

Dove Meadows: 01736 710854

Course Profiles:

- Cycle Course: 2 loops from Mount Misery
- Run Course: 3 laps on coastal path (not the beach)
